On Turo’s trip-bookings page, Turo’s system automatically accepts guest bookings for your vehicle based on the days, times, and locations you have set as available. You are responsible for honoring every accepted trip. Guests do not wait for you to tap Approve. Turo can change these numbers — check your listing.

Q: Should I turn on Instant Book on Turo?

Turo describes automatic acceptance as how bookings work, not as an optional extra. If the app still shows a toggle, believe the app — not an old blog. The control you do have is the calendar, pickup and return hours, advance notice, trip buffer, and min/max trip length. Those settings are how you keep Instant Book from booking a trip you cannot fulfill. Canceling a booked trip is a host cancellation: Turo’s Instant Book article names a violation fee of up to $50. The $25 / $50 split is on Turo’s cancel-with-guest page.

Q: What are Turo Instant Book requirements?

Turo’s Trip bookings Help page does not list a host trip-count, rating, or photo test you must pass before Instant Book works. What it does require: keep Trip preferences, Calendar, Availability, and Location and delivery updated so you only receive trips you can honor. Guest-side, Turo still screens accounts and applies US booking rules: age by vehicle class (18 / 21 / 25 / 30), a physical license, and post-booking tasks no later than two hours before start. A guest who matches Turo’s eligibility and your listing settings books. Turo accepts it. You get a notification, not a request. Trip changes — extend, shorten, extras, delivery — are requests you still have to answer; Turo tells you how long you have. Advance notice, buffer, and trip duration live on Vehicles → Trip preferences. Pickup and return hours default, on Turo’s Managing availability page, to 7 am–10 pm weekdays and 7 am–7 pm weekends until you change them. Block days you cannot host on the Calendar. Snooze or unlist if the car is off the market for a stretch.

Turo screens guests at account creation, again at booking, and on an ongoing basis. Turo does not publish the screening model to hosts. US guest age at booking, from Turo’s page about booking a car in the US: standard 18+, fair market value over $20,000 is 21+, Deluxe 25+, Super Deluxe / Classic / Specialty 30+. Guests 18–24 pay Turo’s young driver fee — Turo does not print one dollar amount on that page. Deluxe and Super Deluxe add a security deposit and extra checks. Instant Book does not skip license confirmation at check-in. If the license is wrong or never arrives, you cancel — you do not hand over the car.

You searched “Turo Instant Book,” “Turo instant booking,” “should I turn on Instant Book Turo,” or “Turo Instant Book requirements.” Turo’s current Help page on trip bookings says the system automatically accepts trips that match the days, times, and locations you set as available. You honor them. You do not get a pile of requests to sit on.

The short answer

Turo accepts the trip. Your calendar is the gate, not a Approve button.

Turo’s page about trip bookings opens with Turo’s sentence: Turo’s system automatically accepts guest bookings for your vehicle(s) based on the days, times, and locations you’ve set as available.

You’re responsible for honoring all accepted trips. To make sure you can, Turo tells you to review Trip preferences — advance notice, trip buffer, trip duration — plus Calendar, Availability, and Location & delivery. Keep those updated so you only receive trips that match. Canceling a booked trip triggers a violation fee of up to $50 and can hurt the listing. That $50 can change. The $25 / $50 split by clock is on Turo host cancel.

You may not ask a guest to cancel for you. If you cannot fulfill the trip, or you are uncomfortable with it, notify the guest and cancel in the product. Do not invent a side-channel.

Should you “turn it on”

The useful question is not the toggle. It is whether the calendar is honest.

Older host threads treat Instant Book as a ranking trick you enable after five trips. Turo’s current search-visibility Help page talks about photos, airport delivery, dynamic pricing, host ratings, a current calendar, and answering trip-change requests. It does not name Instant Book as a ranking lever. Turo’s current search page does not name Instant Book as a ranking lever.

What Instant Book actually does, on Turo’s own trip-bookings page: if the dates are open and the guest clears Turo’s screens, the trip is booked. Your job is to not leave Saturday open when you need the car for a wedding. Snooze or unlist if the car is off the market for a stretch — Turo’s snooze page: guests cannot book new trips; you still fulfill anything already booked.

If you cannot float a last-minute turnover, raise advance notice. If you cannot clean in two hours, raise the buffer. Instant Book is not a personality test. It is a calendar with consequences.

Requirements — host side

No published Instant Book badge test. Settings that actually stop a booking.

Turo’s trip-bookings Help page does not list “X completed trips,” “Y photos,” or a minimum rating before Instant Book works. If a forum screenshot said you had to earn Instant Book, that is not on Turo’s current trip-bookings page. The requirements Turo does print are the settings that keep the auto-accept from booking a trip you will cancel:

Advance notice. Minimum lead time before a new trip starts. The system will not offer a booking with less notice than you set. Turo’s wording on that page is “fewer days advance notice” — open the live control; the unit in the app may be hours or days. Do not copy a forum “set it to 3 hours” as Turo law.
Trip buffer. Hours between trips. The system will not offer a booking that lands inside that window.
Trip duration. Minimum and maximum days. The system will not offer shorter or longer trips. US and Australia hosts: if you later allow a guest to extend past the maximum you set, Turo says that guest can keep bypassing the maximum on later extensions.

UK-only line on the same page, not a US rule: hosts with a vehicle valued over £15,000 must set advance notice to one day or more at every location. A trip that starts within one day of being booked has its protection plan voided — no physical-damage or theft reimbursement. Turo’s host-fees page repeats it. This site is written for US hosts. Confirm Turo if you host in the UK.

Hours and the calendar

Default pickup window is 7–10 weekdays, 7–7 weekends — until you change it.

Turo’s page about managing availability splits two controls:

Pickup and return hours — when a guest may start or end a trip. First listing default: 7 am – 10 pm weekdays and 7 am – 7 pm weekends, applied to home, delivery, and custom locations. Change them in host Settings → Pickup and return hours. The change applies to all vehicles at those locations. Guests can only book trips that start and end while you are marked available.
Unavailability — block days or hours you cannot host. It does not cancel an in-progress trip. Daily block = one period across the selected days. Hourly block = the same window on each selected day. Remove a block the same way.

Turo’s calendar page: Trips → Calendar. That is also where prices live. A blocked Saturday is occupancy you will never have — see Occupancy.

Those default hours can change. Read the live availability page before you treat 7 am as a promise.

Who can book the car

Turo screens. You still confirm the license. Instant Book does not skip check-in.

Turo’s trust-and-safety page: Turo screens when the account is created, screens again when a guest books, and screens on an ongoing basis. Turo does not tell hosts — or support agents — the specific reason a person is blocked. “We don’t disclose the details of our screening measures to anyone. If we did, they wouldn’t be effective.” Instant Book does not hand you a guest Turo already rejected. It also does not show you the model Turo used.

Turo’s account verification guide: identity photos at signup. Turo may also check a personal and/or business credit report and a criminal background; creating an account is written permission under the Fair Credit Reporting Act or similar laws. Turo can decline a trip request and remove someone based on criminal background, driving record, or any other reason. Duplicate email or license number vs another user: they cannot book. Extra photos for Super Deluxe, a trust-and-safety issue, or linked accounts. That is Turo’s screen, not a host questionnaire.

Turo’s page about booking a car in the US uses age at booking, not at trip start:

Standard vehicle — 18 or older
Fair market value more than $20,000 — 21 or older
Deluxe Class — 25 or older
Super Deluxe, Classic, or Specialty — 30 or older

Guests 18–24 pay Turo’s young driver fee. Turo’s trip-costs page: under 25 in the US, Australia, and the UK; under 26 in France; none in Canada. Turo does not print one dollar amount. Turo’s Deluxe / Super Deluxe page: US Deluxe is fair market value $45,000 to $85,000; Super Deluxe is more than $85,000. Deluxe guests in the US: 25+, a security deposit if under 30, additional security checks. Super Deluxe: 30+, a security deposit, additional screening. Turo does not print the deposit dollar amount on that page. We will not invent one. Those bands can change. US amounts Turo does print on its security-deposits Help are on Turo security deposit.

Instant Book does not mean “skip the license.” Turo’s check-in page and Turo’s US license-confirmation page: confirm the primary guest’s license before every trip or risk Turo voiding the protection tied to your earnings plan. Remote: use the license photos in the trip. No photos within one hour of start and you cannot meet them — cancel. Do not leave a lockbox live for an unconfirmed guest. A booked Instant Book trip you cannot fulfill is a host cancellation, not a calendar edit. Turo’s trip-bookings page: violation fee of up to $50. Turo’s cancel-with-guest page and host-fees page: $25 more than 24 hours before start, $50 less than 24 hours. Guest is refunded in full. Trip changes are not Instant Book

The first booking auto-accepts. Extending it does not.

Same Turo trip-bookings article: guests have to submit requests via Turo to extend or shorten the trip, add Extras, or add, change, or remove delivery. Turo notifies you of the change or the request and how much time you have to respond. That is not an automatic second Instant Book. Ignore a change request and you can strand a guest — or eat a gap you thought you had blocked.

Turo’s search-visibility page names “responding promptly to requests to change a trip” as one way to stay active on the platform. It still does not name Instant Book. Stay in the app. Turn on notifications. A lockbox code still goes in Turo messages, not the public listing.

Your cost, not a Turo rate

Instant Book does not raise occupancy in the calculator.

The homepage calculator starts with example numbers so you can change them: $60/day, 50% occupancy, $500 fixed, $25/trip variable, a $60 maintenance reserve if that $500 was only payment and insurance, 80% Balanced on trip price. Auto-accept does not turn 50% into 80%. It turns an open day into a booked day you now have to clean, fuel, and not cancel.

A last-minute Instant Book trip still has to survive the buffer, the lockbox, and — if you use one — bagging the trip fob so a boxed key cannot wake the car. If the sheet is already red at $60 and half occupancy, a shorter advance-notice setting will not make it green. Subtraction is on Money. Booked-days math is on Occupancy.

What this page will not do

Turo describes auto-accept as how bookings work. An older product post said Instant Book would become the standard for all bookings. Set the calendar so you are not canceling.
Turo’s trust-and-safety page is explicit: hosts do not get the screening file. Do not build a private “guest score” off-platform. That is how people wander into discrimination Turo already said it does not want.
