In the US, most people list a personal car on Turo. Published rules generally require you to be at least 21, the car under a rolling 12-year age cap and under 130,000 miles at listing, a clean title, and registration in your name or an authorized owner. A lease or lien is not automatic permission. Call your insurer — many personal policies exclude peer-to-peer sharing. Then run the take-home calculator on this page. 80% is Turo’s published US host share on the Balanced earnings plan for trips booked on or after January 7, 2026 — the calculator starts there so you can change it. More peace of mind is 70% with a $250 damage responsibility; More earnings is 90% with $2,750. In Austin, Dallas, Detroit, Las Vegas, Maui, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, and Seattle, share also moves with how far ahead the guest booked (published range 65–100%). Check Turo’s current rules before you list — they can change. The trip receipt is the number that sticks. This is not an official fee schedule.
Turo pays you a share of the trip price. It does not subtract the car payment, the insurance you buy, the detailer, or mileage depreciation from stranger miles. Those still leave your bank account. Put fixed costs and per-trip costs in the calculator — and still budget separately for mileage wear — or you will think a $55 listing is a business when it is a hobby with a loan.
