You searched “Turo extras,” “Turo prepaid extras,” or “should I offer extras on Turo.” Extras are optional add-ons. You keep 90%. New listings get prepaid refuel turned on. You may not require one to book.
Turo can change these numbers — check your listing.
The short answer
Turo’s page about offering extras says extras are optional add-ons guests can purchase for a trip. Two types: conveniences (prepaid EV charge, unlimited mileage, pet fee) and gear (child safety seats, picnic baskets, bicycles, kayaks, camping gear, coolers, and other items on Turo’s list).
Turo auto-opts all new listings into a prepaid refuel Extra. You can remove it or change the price. Turo shows more than 50 conveniences and gear items. If it is not on the list, you cannot add it.
Turo’s trip-costs page says the same idea to guests: not all hosts offer extras, and hosts who do set their own price.
Extras aren’t covered by any earnings plan, so you keep 90% of what the guest pays. That is Turo’s sentence. Delivery is also 90% of the fee you set, regardless of host share — home and custom delivery on Turo custom delivery, airport lots on Turo airport delivery.
Prepaid extras
Prepaid extras are the convenience extras the guest buys before the trip — prepaid refuel, prepaid EV charge, unlimited mileage. They are not a child seat in the trunk. The guest is buying the hassle off their checkout screen.
Turo: if a guest purchased an Extra for pre-paid refuel, pre-paid EV charging, or unlimited mileage, you may not request post-trip reimbursement for those same items. Turo tells you to look at the trip Details page so you do not file an invoice that Turo will throw out.
Leave prepaid refuel on if the price is a real tank, not a junk fee. Turn it off or reprice it if you would rather invoice missing fuel the old way. How you list the rest of the car — photos, buffers, lockbox vs handoff — is on How to list without looking like a first-timer.
Should you offer them
Yes, usually, for conveniences. Prepaid refuel is already on. A pet fee is honest if you actually allow pets. Unlimited miles is a product, not a vibe — price it like someone will use it. Daily miles included and the extra-mile fee (daily price ÷ daily distance) are on Turo extra miles. A pet fee is not a cleaning Extra. Turo’s current extras article does not name a post-trip cleaning add-on. How clean the car has to be, and whether hosts can charge a cleaning fee, is on Turo cleaning.
Maybe, for one piece of gear you already own. A child seat you will replace if it is damaged, recalled, or expired. Turo says the guest installs it and you must say that clearly. A cooler you can buy again. Photograph the Extra you actually offer — that listing-photo walk is on Turo listing photos.
No, if you are using extras as a workaround. Turo may remove the listing — or you — if you require an Extra to book, use extras to collect a deposit or “convenience” fee, list weapons or illegal items, list food, alcohol, or drugs, offer a house or condo, offer tow service, or list something lewd. That is Turo’s restriction list, not a style guide.
Guests can add or drop an Extra any time before trip start without asking you. After they buy a prepaid tank, you do not also invoice the gauge. After they skip it, the missing-fuel invoice for gas and hybrid is on Turo fuel — do not invoice prepaid twice.
Lost extras and the fob
Turo’s extras page: Turo typically can’t help with lost or damaged extras. You may ask the guest for reimbursement outside Turo, without Turo’s involvement, and in line with the Terms. Set the care rules in the listing before the first weekend warrior treats a bike like a disposable.
If the Extra lives in the car and the guest uses lockbox pickup, the key handoff is still license first, then the code. Bag the lockbox fob — Faraday / lockbox-fob-in-pouch — so a boxed fob cannot wake the car. The guest takes the fob out of the pouch, then unlocks. Pickup order is on Turo lockbox pickup.
Turo’s Terms also say earnings-plan physical-damage terms do not apply to optional extras or personal property. The 90% extras cut is not protection for a $400 kayak.
Host share on extras is 90%. Profit is after the cooler you replace. The subtraction is on Money.
Five questions
Optional add-ons. Conveniences (prepaid EV charge, unlimited miles, pet fee) and gear (child seats, coolers, and the rest of Turo’s 50-plus list). Hosts set the price. Not all hosts offer them.
Up-front conveniences — prepaid refuel and prepaid EV charge, plus unlimited mileage in the same “do not invoice twice” group. New listings are auto-opted into prepaid refuel. Change the price or turn it off.
Conveniences you can deliver: usually yes. Gear you cannot replace: no. You may not require an Extra to book or use one as a deposit. Turo typically will not help if gear is lost.
90% of the extras price. That is not your 80% Balanced trip-price share. Delivery is also 90% — see Turo airport delivery. It is still not profit. Track extras on Money.
Before the trip starts, yes, without your approval. Check trip Details for what they bought so you do not invoice prepaid fuel twice.
